MISSION STATEMENT

Otter Valley Union High School is a place where reflective teaching and learning leads to high expectations for all students and enthusiasm for knowledge encourages success in the global community. To implement this mission:

We believe students meet academic expectations when they are able to:

" Achieve the standards in the Vermont Framework.

" Accept responsibility for their own education.

" Demonstrate knowledge in a variety of content areas and understand its relevance.

" Demonstrate critical thinking and learning skills which enable them to become creative problem solvers and life-long learners.

" Practice academic integrity and value academic success in themselves and others.

We believe students meet civic expectations when they are able to:

" Exercise the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of being a Citizen of the United States.

" Exhibit an awareness of diversity through open communication.

" Contribute to the community in positive ways.

We believe students meet social expectations when they are able to:

" Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for their actions.

" Work effectively in diverse groups and settings.

" Demonstrate respect for themselves, others, and their surroundings.
