School Cancellation Policy: On the reverse is the Colchester School District’s policy for canceling and/or delaying the school opening.

Budget Hearings: The school board will hold two informational sessions on next year’s proposed school budget. These sessions will also be an opportunity for the public to offer input. They will be held on Tuesday, December 14 at 7:00 PM here at Union Memorial School and Thursday, December 16 at 7:00 PM at Porters Point School.

Entertainment Books for Sale: We have 12 entertainment books for sale at $30 apiece (five of which have already been sold) with all the proceeds going directly to the playground. If you would like to purchase one, contact Melissa Mazza at 863-2305.

Picture Re-Takes: Students can have their pictures retaken on Wednesday, November 10. MacLean-Stevens will be here starting at 10:45 to retake any pictures that did not come out well and take pictures of students who were either absent or not enrolled on the original date.

Report Cards: Report cards will be issued on Friday, November 19 unless you have a conference scheduled for an earlier date.

COLCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS

NO SCHOOL

Announcements in the AM will be made as soon as possible, preferably before 6:00 AM on local radio and TV stations in Chittenden County. A notice will be posted on the Internet at www.sover.net/schoolclosings.
Normally, school days missed will be made up at the end of the year in June.

DELAYED OPENING

The decision will be made as soon as possible.
Delayed opening will be for 2 hours.
AM Kindergarten and EEE sessions will be cancelled.
Bus Drivers will run their normal schedule, but delayed 2 hours.
Transportation will not be provided for CHS students attending vocational education centers or private schools. Students should listen to the radio to determine if their program is cancelled. If the program is not cancelled, students should make every attempt to provide their own transportation.

EARLY DISMISSAL

The decision will be made when weather conditions have severely deteriorated after students have arrived at school.
Generally, early dismissal will take place after lunch. However, some storm days may require us to dismiss earlier.
Secondary students will be dismissed before elementary students so that older siblings will be home first.
PM Kindergarten and EEE sessions will be cancelled.
Timing will be coordinated with the Colchester Highway Department to ensure roads are plowed and sanded.
Announcement will be made on local radio and TV stations as early as possible. A notice will be posted on the Internet at www.sover.net/schoolclosings.
