Final Playground Fundraiser:     The final fundraiser for the playground is one that calls upon past and present members of the Union Memorial School family.  We will be selling tiles that can be decorated by families and individuals.  The tiles will be displayed throughout the school in an effort to recognize all contributors to the project.  Information was sent home with the students last week and please contact Christine Anderson if you have any questions.  She can be reached by phone at 655-5733 or by e-mail at andersonc@colchester.k12.vt.us.  Tiles cost $25.

No Strings Marionette Company:     There will be a free performance of “Wasabi . . . A Dragon’s Tale” by the No Strings Marionette Company at Colchester High School on Friday, March 4 beginning at 7:00 PM.  This is presented to you by the Malletts Bay School Fine Arts Committee and PTO.  They invite you to come and bring the whole family.  You’ll see a seven foot dragon, a prince and princess, a transforming sprite and fashionable knight!  No tickets are required – first come, first serve.  For questions call 655-0166.

School Report Card:     For those who missed the School Report Night held on February 8, you may stop by the office and get a copy of the handout that summarizes the data that was presented.

Spring Book Fair:    The UMS Book Fair will be held in the library the week of March 14.  It is sponsored by Scholastic and the night hours will be on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.  The book fair will be open during parent conferences on Friday, March 18.  Look for more information to come from Mrs. Flanagan.

February Reading Challenge:     During the February vacation, we challenge all students and staff to read (or be read to) at least ten minutes a day.  It is very important that the students continue to read over long stretches when school is not in session to maintain their skills.
