Hello, my name is Chris Antonicci and I am the principal of Union Memorial School. Welcome to our school’s website.
Union Memorial School is one of two primary schools in Colchester, Vermont servicing students in grades K through 2. We also are home to the district’s EEE program giving us a total enrollment of 256 students.
Last year’s second graders scored well above the state average on the Vermont Developmental Reading Assessment. As a school we have met the target for adequate yearly progress under No Child Left Behind. Our class sizes currently average 19 students and we have an experienced professional staff that has an average (mean) of 12.7 years in education.
There are many things that make Union Memorial School special. We have a thriving, supportive Parent Teacher Organization that sponsors annual events such as the Harvest Dinners in October, Spirit Day in February, Staff Appreciation Week in May and the Student Yearbook. We are also raising money to build a new playground in the spring of 2005.
The parents also are supportive of our Emergent Reader Program in kindergarten, the Environmental Learning for the Future (ELF) program and many individual classroom initiatives.
I hope you take a moment to explore the pages on our site and get acclimated to our staff and school. There are a great number of wonderful things happening at UMS.
