Department Descriptions

Administration

The Administration Division includes the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Taxpayer Advocate, General Counsel and staff, Economist, Policy Analysts and the Business Office.

The Division is responsible for overall department leadership and general management functions. It also represents the Department at a variety of legislative and administrative policy-making functions and hearings. The division promulgates rulings, regulations and technical bulletins based upon legislative mandates. Finally, it provides a forum for hearing tax appeals and issues determinations on such appeals.

The Administration Division is responsible for general business functions such as budget development and management, personnel and payroll administration, procurement and contract administration, work environment, and building security issues. These responsibilities extend to production of all tax returns, forms, brochures, etc., statistical reports and summaries and protection, preservation and storage of all public records.
