EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE
IN-111 Individual Income
Vermont follows the IRS in allowing an automatic six-month extension of time to file the individual income tax return. You must file either VT form IN-151 or a copy of the Federal extension return by the original due date of the return.
NOTE: An extension of time only allows more time to file the return. It does not extend the time to pay tax. Interest and penalty will accrue on tax due from the original due date of the return to the time of payment.
NO EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE AVAILABLE FOR:
HS-145 Property Tax Adjustment Claim
PR-141 Renter Rebate Claim
DETERMINING HOUSEHOLD INCOME FOR EXTENDED INCOME TAX RETURNS
If you cannot determine your household income by the due date (for instance, self-employed, K-1 statements, etc.), file the HS-145 or PR-141 and the HI-144 household income schedule with the best available information. You are responsible for filing an amended HI-144 when your income is known.
