Red Clover Book
Program: This book program for children in grades
K-4 is sponsored by the Vermont Center for the Book. It is a Kids
Choice Award. Ten picture books are chosen every year and more than 24,000 kids in the state of VT vote in April for their favorite book.
Some of the past winners are: Akiak by Blake, Art Dog by Hurd
and Click Clack Moo Cows That Type by Cronin.
The following are some of the many activities that we do in the Library to promote reading. Literary Luncheons: Second grade students eat lunch in the library and discuss their favorite books with the Librarian. Book fairs in the Library: We have two Book fairs a year to promote new books that the children can purchase. I love to Read and Write Month: The month of February is designated as " I Love to Read and Write" month. We have "guest readers" in the library and do activities to highlight reading and writing in our school. Author and Illustrator Visits: UMS has been fortunate to have hosted wonderful children's authors through the years that excite the students and faculty about children's literature. |
